Runners & Flat Weaves

Flat weaves are ideally suited to stairs, halls & landings and make a big impact. Flat weaves are hand-woven on looms using traditional weaving techniques. The results of this process mean they are knotted and not tufted and have a smooth and even surface. Quite often flat-weaves are not backed. All this means they are very slim-lined and flat, coining the name “flat-weaves.”

You can find them laid out in a variety of patterns and styles, including herringbone, chevron or diamond style patterns. They often have striped or patterned edges to them, as well as block colour designs. All our flat-weaves are 100% wool with a bold and striking colour choice.

With over 100 stocked yarn colours they can be used to create your own bespoke runner. With a specialist dye house you can also create your own personal colours, ideal for matching paints, fabrics, wallpapers or other carpets. Off the Loom also offer a personalised design service, meaning you can create you own style runner in your own personal colours.

Riviera are one of our main brands that offer backed flat weave carpets. This means you can have them fitted in rooms as well as hall/stairs/landing areas. With riviera you can create a truly unique and sophisticated looking room, knowing that these carpets are very heard wearing and durable.

This means that any carpet in our showroom is available for you to create a truly one of a kind runner. All our carpets and our flat-weave runners can be teamed with standard and herringbone carpet binding to create a truly unique design for your installation.

A guide to Flat Weaves

Traditional Flat-Weave carpets – such as Off The Loom, are un-backed carpets, flat weaves will only be available for stair runners, or custom runners in halls and on landings. These will make any staircase give a huge impact and can create vibrant or subtle looks deepening on the colour and design. The choice is yours.

Backed Flat-weaves – Such as Riviera, are backed flat weave carpets, these can be used in any room and are suitable for both domestic and some commercial installations. This gives you the freedom to have this versatile product in any room or area. All of Riviera’s ranges are also available for bespoke rugs.
